Austrian Standards Redesign Project
Austrian Standards, an austrian provider of technical books, certifications and trainings asked Digital Beratung to work on the redesign of their platform, including the eShop, the user dashboard and the platform for the collaboration of experts for the development of new standards. The most important reasons for the redesign were that first, the company was not fully digitised and clients had to call the customer support and second a lot of technical jargon and legacy pages were making the platform unfriendly to newcomers.
We had several codesign workshops and review sessions with the team where we discussed, based on the wireframes, their business requirements, we sketched together and defined desired features while figuring out inconsistencies in the system.
What I did
My main task was to provide redesign concepts. Early on, I pointed the attention of the team to the information architecture. As their website developed through the years, new categories and products were added and others became less maintained or obsolete, resulting to a unclear menu structure. Thus, my work on redesigning parts of the platform also influenced the sitemap and the business model and vice versa. We had to clearly define what are the offerings, how are they labelled in order to have a crisp concept for the whole Austrian Standards platform. We started with a “mobile first” approach but soon moved to desktop, where the majority of business takes place. I made a lot of wireframes in this project (January to April 2019) and had a great collaboration with the lead interaction designer, the lead workshop facilitator and the graphic designer (colleagues at Digital Beratung) as well as with the main stakeholders. I made a project at Behance with my UI designs that you can check if you like.
